So Sunny

Funny Story- One day while spending time in the front desk i observed a couple run up to the desk and quickly say that they were ready to check out. The employees started to ask the guests where they were headed since it was late at night. They just replied that they were headed to Fairbanks and where lucky to make (as they pointed to the sign) the 10 am check out. The employees explain to the guest that the sign was for 10 am not pm. The guests were embarrassed t0 realize that is was the same day that they checked in and still had 12 hours before checkout.

Arctic Ocean

We live one adventure after another. We got on a small plane and flew around Mt McKinley. The plane tour shows you an up close and different perspective of the mountain. We saw a glacier that if all the snow and ice were melted the hole left behind would be bigger then the Grand Canyon. We also got to see little mountain climbers and their tents. The scariest thing about the flight was when we first noticed that the runway looked like an over-sized gravel driveway.

This weekend we took the crazy Dalton Highway to the Arctic Ocean. This road is 400 miles of gravel, dirt and somewhat large rocks. This highway is infamous and no rental company would let us take their car on it. Did we let that slow us down, NO WAY. We decided that our little "Engine That Could" car could make this trip. We drove for 13 hours straight through the night so we could arrive in Deadhorse by our 2:00 tour. I have never heard so many clinks, plings, loud clungs, and felt so bad for the under carriage of a car. But we made it in one piece (for now). The tour is the only access to the Arctic Ocean because the land is all oil fields and private property. Nate and I jumped in and became a members of the polar bear club there. It was cold, but this was the entire reason for the trip. On the way home we camped by a little creek just off the road. The next morning was continued our trip home and eventually lost our muffler / exhaust pipe. We picked it up wrapped it in a bag and continued on our way. We bought ear plugs when we finally reached Fairbanks (3 hrs later) to help relieve the headache from the sound. The next thing is to find a way to fix the car. Hope everyone has a great 4th of July. We'll sure miss not being with the family.
