6 Months Old

Here are Micah's stats;

Weight: 12 lbs 10 oz...... 0 th percentile
Height: 24.25 in.............. 1 st percentile
Head: 42 cm .................17 th percentile

He has only gained 2 oz in the last 2 months. He is healthy in every way. He is happy and healthy and reaching all of his milestones on time. The doctor has no idea why he isn't gaining weight like he is supposed to. We have to go back in 2 weeks, if he hasn't gained enough by then, we'll have to do blood and urine tests. This child....if it's not one thing, then it's something else.

On the other hand, Micah has several new tricks that he can do. He is rolling from his back to tummy with ease. He will play for a few minutes and then roll back. He hasn't figured out that this is a way to get places yet, but I'm sure that is just around the corner. He has also found his toes. He sucks on his big toe like many suck their thumbs.

He is eating "solid" foods now. He has tried all of the vegetables and loves them. He likes to use the spoon and when I'm in a good mood I let him. He enjoys dumping the contents out. He tries to get his mouth, but usually he gets his eyes, ears, head, neck and floor.

Micah can sit up when he can use his hands as a kick stand. He also is grabbing at everything. I can't have him sit on my lap anymore if I expect to get anything done. He grabs at my phone, drink, and computer.

He is a beautiful baby, and so much fun to have around. He is learning so much and it is fun to watch.

Chicago

Nate had a AOA conference in Chicago and Micah and I tagged along. We started off the trip by going to the midnight release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. We dragged Micah out of bed and hurried to get tickets.



We had to get festive, but we weren't willing to dress up, so Micah had to represent the family.
He thoroughly enjoyed it. (shown in the following picture)



We got home from the movie at 3:00 and woke up at 5:00 to get to the airport. After checking in to our hotel we went on a river boat tour.



On the tour they highlight the architecture around the Chicago River. I really enjoyed it because I like to know useless information. By that night Nate and I were totally beat. We wanted to sleep early, but of course, Micah was wide awake.
The next morning, Nate went off to his meetings and Micah and I went for a walk. We walked up Michigan Ave and then down Lake Shore Drive. It's amazing how big Lake Michigan is.



When Nate was finished we walked to Millennium Park. There is a giant metallic bean, and some other unusual looking statues.

We then went to the Chicago Art Institute. There were some real famous paintings there. Mrs Anderson (my elementary art teacher) would be so proud of me for remembering these paintings.
On Friday, Micah and I went to the top of the AOA headquarters, where Nate had his meetings. Micah is sitting in the boardroom on the 18th floor.

Then we walked to Navy Pier.

They were giving free tour on a coast guard ship.

On Saturday David and Kip came to spend the day with us. We went to the Sears Tower (which is now called the Willis Tower).

They have the boxes that extend 4 feet from the 103rd floor. It's a long way down.

We also went to the Field Museum, and walked around to the aquarium and the planetarium. This is one of the best views of the city. I wish I had a puzzle of this, wouldn't that be cool? ;) We then drove to the south side of Chicago and saw the sights of Hyde Park.
On Sunday, Nate and I checked out of our hotel and went to the Science Museum. We tried to get tickets to the Harry Potter exhibit but they didn't have any for the right time. It was still a neat museum that he a lot of interactive exhibits.

Over all, we had a great time. But I realized why mom and dad never took the kids to his conventions. It is a lot of work traveling with a baby. I think I'll be home bound for quite a while.

4th of July

Nate had to work and study for step 2 of his boards, so Micah and I left him in the heat and headed to Utah. My family always has a jam packed 4th. My parents and I went to an Orem Owls baseball game.

Matt and Sage's family happened to be there too, so we enjoyed the game together.

Next is the classic balloon launch. It is a 3 day event but we always go on the 3rd.

On the 4ht we start the morning off by participating in the freedom run. I ran the 5K this year. My time was 27:15. I finished 19th in my age group out of 200. I feel pretty good about that (I was sore for about 3 days though).

Next we head over to the parade. My cousin Danny has a house on the parade route is is gracious enough to save seats for the family.

Finally, it is off to the Baugh picnic. Micah is sitting in cousin Elisabeth's chair. He is trying to be a big boy.

Every Tuesday my sisters and mom meet for a picnic in the park. This week we went to a park in Orem.

Micah and I had a great visit. We also spent time with Nates mom and dad. We celebrated Andrea's birthday, we visited old friends Chaysie and Megan. Fun was had by all (Except Nate, who spent long hours studying and working).
