Baby is Here

For those of you who care......Micah Evan Hale decided to come a few weeks early. I had been waiting for soccer to be over to finish the few projects around the house. But Micah had his own plan. My water broke at 2:00 am on the 28th. I woke up and thought I peed myself. So I went to the bathroom and GUSH there it is all over the bathroom floor. I just kept thinking, "no way that can;t be me water breaking." I went to get a towel to clean it up and it just keeps coming. It was like in the movies.
I woke Nate up a few minutes later and we headed to the hospital. At about 5:00 in the morning we had a little scare because Micah's heart rate dropped and the nurses were having a hard time bringing it back up. The went to but on a scalp electrode to monitor the heart rate and they couldn't find his head. They told me that he has breech and they were going to have to do an emergency c-section to get him out of me. But they looked at the ultra sound again and he wasn't breech, but he was still having a hard time inside me. So, no c-section. By 7:00, they realized that they needed to completely stop contractions to give Micah a rest. They eventually started them again, very slowly. Micah was having what they call "late decel". Which means his heart rate dropped during and after any contractions. At 12:00 my doc came back and advised us that we needed to do a c-section. Because of this late decel, there was too much stress on Micah. If we continued the labor it might get to be too much for him and then there would be an emergency. We decided that the c-section was best.
The nurses got me all prepped and they wheeled me to the OR. I felt some tugging on my bell and then lots of crying. I just kept thinking, "oh crap, I'm a mom now." You think you have 9 months to prepare for that moment, but you don't. It hits you just like that.

Thanks to all of you for your concerns and prayers. We sure are blessed to live in a place and age that can take care of complications during labor. It was a comfort to know that Micah and I were going to be just fine. Ive never had a major surgery like this and I wasn't nervous.
He sure is a good baby. He sleeps all the time, which is awesome. Here are his stats and some photos of him:

Oh The Weather Outside Is....DELIGHTFUL!!

It is finally time to update the blog. Several things have happened since the first of December when I wrote last. NO, I haven't had my baby, but Im finally in my 9th month. First of all, AZ right now is so beautiful. The weather is in the 70's and we can keep the windows open all night. I love it here.

We had a great Christmas break. We were able to go back to Utah ad see our families. There were 7 out of the 8 of us in town which made for a crazy home.
Here we are playing in the snow in my backyard. We got a crazy game of "Fox and Geese" going (It's simple tag, but you have to stay on set trails made in the snow). I even played in my big bellied state, but I not for very long. It's not fun being the slowest out there.

My sisters Amy had her baby. Nate and I went to the hospital to see her and went spent most of the time in the lobby watching the two oldest girls. Nate is playing doctor, with Lucy and Ellie, with the dolls and toys they had there.

Christmas morning we spent at Nate's mom's house. Here we all are.....bright and chipper.

We had to wake Nate's youngest sister up because we were all excited to see what she got. She was not happy with that.

But after a few minutes she got up and found all the stuff Santa had brought her.

After presents and breakfast the family went out and played in the crazy snowstorm. They built a big hut. Im not ashamed to say that I didnt go play. I stayed inside.

Nate's sister, Andrea, got married on Saturday Dec. 27th in the SLC temple. On the Friday before, while the boys were trying on their tuxes, Andrea, Heidi and I went to get manicures and pedicures. It was my first pedicure and it was AWESOME.
The ceremony was great. It nice to go to other peoples weddings and heard the advice given, because at your own you are in such a daze that most of what is said goes in one ear and out the other. The sealer talked about there being angels present to witness their ceremony. And he told Andrea and Spencer that they can decide who the angels were to witness the moment. It made me think of who would have been there to witness Nate and mine's wedding. I also thought it was interesting that the sealer had invited Andrea and Spencer to his home the week before so he could get to know them better. I think that made his remarks even more personal and special.
The rest of the week was spent playing games, sitting around, and just visiting family. Nate was able to go snowboarding twice, which always makes him happy.
Here is a picture of the truck we took back to Az. Nates mom had kept a lot of baby stuff and was very nice in letting Nate and I have it. We now have the big baby items taken care of. And then, Nate's dad let us borrow his truck to haul all of our loot back to Az.
The most eventful part of the drive home was when the ties of the tarp kept coming lose. We just kept adding more ties, but I didnt seem to hold. Eventually we ran out of twine, but still managed to have lose tarp. In final desperation, we used ribbons, from presents that were given to us, to tie the lose flaps and it held. Im so grateful that was able to go home. The snow was fun, but Im glad to be back in the 70 degree weather.
Ive been coaching soccer the fall. We finish up the last week in January. It has really taken a lot of energy. Ive never been so tired so much of the time. But what has helped that my team is winning more then they are losing. It makes is more fun to be out there with the girls. Here is a picture of them warming up before a game. Notice the sunshine!! It was taken on the 6th of January.
